Before Babysitting:
-
Do not post your name, age and phone number anywhere (i.e. Grocery store, community
centre, Internet, newspaper). If you want a babysitting job; ask you parents, family friends
or teachers if they know anyone with younger kids. It's always safer to babysit for people you
know and trust.
-
Create a plan with your parents. For example, a code word is a great way to communicate
with your parents if you feel uncomfortable or scared while babysitting.
-
You should always let your parents know where you will be - provide them with a phone
number and address.
-
Do not respond to a newspaper or Internet advertisement for a babysitter - it's not safe.
-
Have two plans for getting home - if one falls through then you always have another option.
-
Keep the number of people that you will be babysitting to a minimum.
